Girls Aloud

Bespoke Screen Content – Case Study

When Girls Aloud decided to step up the video element of their 2008 arena tour they turned to Blink to produce an entire 90 minute-show’s worth of content across three video feeds. The production included an extensive, beautifully-lit shoot with the girls and their dancers in HD and four weeks’ graphics production at Blink’s own studios utilising a team of six visual artists. The dark video concepts were dreamt up by the wonderfully twisted minds of acclaimed fashion stylist Frank Strachan and choreographer Beth Honan. The end result was a package where the screens were truly integrated into the show production, and a tour that established new levels of creative credibility for Girls Aloud.

Following the success of this, Blink were asked back to work on the 2009 tour. The visuals used footage from an extensive green screen shoot & underwater shoot, and had an art department featuring giant Burlesque Martini glasses and a bouncy castle! Blink’s team of visual artists also animated some stunning graphic backdrops and video sets to make full use of the 10 screens that covered the stage, including 5 video ‘ramps’ that were integral to the band’s choreography.
